While in Orlando my husband and I had a few hours and were looking for something different to do and we found the Chocolate Museum & Café. If you like history this is a good place to brush up on some chocolate facts. For kids it will not compare to Disney characters or thrill rides.

Waiting for our tour to begin. Very nice atmosphere, small and quaint. Beautiful wall decor. Taken with my selfie stick. Great to have if you want pictures and do not want to have to ask other people to take your picture.

The Museum

A tour guide guides you through the museum. Tours begin on the hour and the guide explains where and how the cocoa is grown. Cacao beans are grown in a large pod. Best grown 20 degrees north or south of the equator.

Chocolate was Originally a Drink

Chocolate was originally a drink by royals. Prior to making it to the famous chocolate bars in the mid-1800s. Some of what we call white chocolate ( my favorite) is not really considered chocolate, Bummer. So to be considered chocolate there must be at least 30% cacao, unfortunately, most white chocolate as we know it is just a combination of butter and powder.

Different equipment is used to process chocolate.

Chocolate Sculptures

After learning about the history of chocolate now we entered a room with chocolate sculptures. Fun to look at and see the similarity to the original building or inspiration for the sculpture. Each sculpture stands in front of a picture of the original building or monument that the chocolate sculpture is replicating.
