Christmas Lights are Christmas Lights, Right? BUT, Bellingrath Gardens Magic Christmas In Lights, are amazing, you are in for a night of magic, not to disappoint.

I love Bellingrath Gardens I have been there a couple times, however I have never been to the Magic Christmas In Lights and I have really been wanting to go and see how they transform the already beautiful gardens into a Christmas light display. This would be the only day we could fit this into our holiday schedule. I was so glad AJ said yes, a little reluctant at first as it will be a long day and late night driving to get home. But as soon as he said YES! we were packed up and out the door and on the road.

Exciting Day

We arrived in Mobile, Alabama about 6:30 and were amazed but a little concerned that the car line to get into the parking area was bumper to bumper. Many cars were parking along the roadside and people were waking in, we were wondering with this may cars if we should do the same, but cars were coming out and we were moving so we decided to hang in there and follow the line.

Fortunately, the cars moved along steadily and about twenty or so minutes later we were parking and walking towards the entrance. The parking is in and around the trees and is very dark, so get your bearings so you will be able to find your car when you come out later. Good thing AJ was with me, I loose my car coming out of Walmart.

Walking up to the entrance, the line to get in was about a 15-20 minute wait. The line did move quickly and there are some lights to enjoy at the entrance.

If you want you can purchase your tickets online and avoid the wait. As you can see no line at the tent for pre purchased tickets, but even if you do not purchase online the line seemed to move quickly.

I will say, the staff there has this process down to an art. They have plenty of people on staff and they are all very friendly and keep things moving seamlessly. Tickets are $18 for Adults and $25 if you want to add the home tour. If you have never done the home tour, go ahead and pay the extra it is well worth it. The home is beautiful, and the history is wonderful. This was my third time to Bellingrath over the years and have done the home tour each time, and I love hearing the Bellingrath’s story. This time it was just extra special seeing the home decorated for Christmas.

Once inside you will know why they call it “Magic Christmas in Lights”

There were so many Lights it is hard to imagine how long it takes to put them up and take them down. But it is truly magical.

Enter the gardens and you are greeted by the beautiful Christmas light displays that guide you throughout the gardens. The path of lights are so well organized so you see the entire gardens without getting lost, even in the dark, and without missing a single light.

One of the first areas you visit is the greenhouse with a huge poinsettia tree.

The greenhouse was full of plants, the poinsettias were so big an beautiful.

Bellingrath Home Tour

The number of lights is simply amazing the lights take you on a journey through the gardens to the beautiful Bellingrath home. The home tours start ever half hour. Be prepared to be taken back in time with the history and stories presented by the tour guide.

Mr. Bellingrath made his money as a Coca Cola bottler and distributer. Very interesting story. In his Coca Cola room you can see some very old Coca Cola bottles.

We did the home tour at the beginning and then returned to the garden of Magic Christmas Lights.
Every turn there are more lights, one display you feel like you are underwater.

It would be very difficult to pick my favorite Magic Christmas lights.

There are many different themes throughout the garden.

The Coca Cola Lights.

The Jack in the Boxes.

The many flowers in lights…

But I think one of my favorites was the train that reflected in the reflecting pond so you were able to see it twice.

Beautiful Nativity at end…a perfect ending to a perfect night.

Magical Memory
